Every so often we find ourselves thinking we are stuck, unable to navigate our next movement forward. Every passing moment feels wasted, every direction taken seems packed and we’re at the back of the queue, always arriving to the party, late.
We used to notice this through the watching of films. How worlds apart we seemed to be. We’d hear it in stories from people who had travelled those different worlds, telling us strange tales about the bird that carries people in its belly.
Also why some of us read books, to escape the world we lived in and be exposed to a different life. A life of adventure, romance and some mythical mystery adding magic to our world.
Then social media came tumbling in, and we all fell down. We saw real time difference in lifestyles and this did things to us. It made us aware of our lack and it also raised our expectations of what was, and is possible.
Subconsciously we got to conclude this must be what the dream looks like. Dreaming has never been a problem, it became an issue when the questions started to seep in;
“what about me?”
“When will it be my time?”
“What I have to do to get that?”
At times we didn’t even need to ask questions it was all just shock at the lives lived by others and what evidently, we must be lacking.
It’s either we complained or reminisced on the good old days and this in itself made us become hard on ourselves. Clinging to a past that could no longer be lived in, while complaining about decisions made by others that have been of influence in our lives.
STOP!
Dwelling on past happenings that will never change. I’m not saying don’t remember, I’m saying don’t forget that LIFE is lived everyday with our choices having a grand effect on how our lives TURN out to be.
STOP!
Being unrealistically hard on yourself when it comes to your dreams. You have started upon your journey, this is the fifth year or even just the first. Don’t give up because you see no results, remember it takes 18 years to be thought an adult who is “ready” for life and with it, consequences of society. Don’t give up because the dream seems to take too long, YOU’RE EARLY IN YOUR PROCESS.
STOP!
Living life based on the expectations of others. “They don’t do that” well take a good look at the life you really be saying you want and when you want it. Now look around your environment and ask yourself, “are my dreams in reality?” Now do not lose hope if the answer turns out to be a resounding NO! Dreams are meant to seem unreal that is where the magic of achieving dreams occurs from.
STOP!
Living life based on other peoples expectations, as this gets toxic.
Really just stop next time you feel extremely overwhelmed, stop and ask yourself. Am I doing this for me or am I doing this to prove a point to someone else?
May your journey be filled with peace and love.
