Journal?

My mum would flood me with different diaries from such a young age, believing I had plenty to say and no where to say it. In truth I never had anything to say until I was bored with a blank paper staring at me.

I really never understood why she’d always ask me if I’m using the diaries but never bother to ask me what I wrote in them. I guess maybe that was her way of giving me privacy, whatever the case, those diaries were a blessing.

Here’s why, I was forced to ask myself so many unnecessary questions, and whatever my pen carved into the page, would be the answer behind the questions. When the questions had no anwers, I would etch my confusion through those pages.

In writing, a solace of peace was found, something my mum incepted in me really young.

So maybe you were not as privileged as I was to have a mother constantly reminding you to journal your thoughts down. I can understand not feeling up to it or even remotely thinking it will help you in any way.

The reason I’ve broached the conversation is simply because being able to honestly put down our thoughts can dramatically help improve our awareness of self giving us reason to define for ourselves who we are.

This is important for our health, the reason why its recommended to journal daily is to keep tabs on how we feel throughout the day.

Cause we like asking, “How are you?” Such an interesting question which almost always gets, “I’m fine” or “good, you” for a response. Even if we are not good and we feel ourselves drowning out sea.

If you don’t trust anyone, at least trust yourself, journal how you feel daily. Should your own thoughts scare you, don’t feel alone seek trained medical help. You can visit Clinic 6 at UTH(if you’re in Lusaka) if not in Lusaka but dedefinitely in Zambia feel free to comment your area and I will inquire where you can seek help.

Take daily account for how you feel throughout the day. A journal isn’t there to count how often you slipped up, it’s there to remind us of our human attempts, that we tried 7 times but the 8th was too much and we caved, and that’s okay so long as we don’t stop trying.

So long as we don’t stop seeking help because honestly there are alot of people interested in YOU being a healthy human being. It’s not perfect but it’s a start, so journal your mood and if you feel alarmed just know WE care.

I’ll leave you with one question, if you could write down what kind of person you’d like to be, and it can’t involve money, what kind of person would you become?
