Arguably the worst part about feeling things is when you feel things erratically, and always intensely.
Hello and welcome to my blog, hope this Mental Monday edition finds you in great health with happiness and love overflowing directly into the cups of others. We are here together, and never for ourselves, so remember to share and shine a light so another may find their own way to love.
If you feel things, then you’re like all of us who feel things regardless of race, gender or social standings. We feel, because to be human, beautifully flawed, is to feel things. But the real question is, have you ever felt so much and so quickly?
If yes, did you enjoy the coup that your emotions created when they seized power of your control box? Personally I’ve never enjoyed those trips, losing control of the one thing I can pretend to actually be in control of, recipe for disaster.
Those with bipolar disorder experience extreme lows known as depressive lows and extreme highs know as manic highs. Depression alone is problematic now imagine having constant days when you feel both depressed and manic interchangeably throughout your day?
Yet we have the nerve to rush judgement and call them crazy or high instead of employing compassion, empathy and the mighty pause. We pause because we lack the proper context to judge anyone and instead of rushing first we pause to evaluate all players in the moment including ourselves.
We evaluate, how important a reaction is in the context of the situation. And if you’re a Christian like me, we apparently shouldn’t even react because judgement is for God, so I don’t know how you want it interpreted but PAUSE.
Bipolar disorder has a lot of of information that you can check out following that link. However, what makes bipolar interesting the most is one moment you can be angry and the next moment you could be euphoric. It’s like playing roulette, you can never be too sure what to expect but be expectant.
It must be a difficult life waking up and being controlled by emotions. I didn’t know what to write on for this Mental Monday, but my girlfriend came through and suggested I look at bipolar disorder. Sometimes we can think we are being sweet and thoughtful, yet forgetting to be empathetic when we can.
Forgetting to pause and allow ourselves the opportunity to grow up from that moment fuelled with emotion to the moment we refuse to adopt issues that are not meant for us. So when we pause over it, we simply are asking, “am I about to adopt something that I have no interest in?” And at the same time whether we choose to be helpful and see what we can do we can also choose to take a step back and not participate.
Now the last part may seem harsh, but notice how Jesus Christ did not heal or save everyone when he entered a city, because even the son of God knew that he was not meant to cover every inch and so he covered what he could. Taking a step back and not being a stressor to someone who potentially might have bipolar disorder could in itself be a form of helping.
Because helping everyone is impossible, we can’t spread love to everyone as sometimes the world consumes us. But we can try avoid making the world any more hurt than it already is and take the step back. Bipolar disorder is not a death sentence but it does make social interactions awkward for some as they watch out for triggers, avoiding land mines is a daily ritual.
Be more compassionate, more patient, pause more and love deeply so that everyone who is broken including us can have constant reminders of love and aspire to love, always.
Mental Mondays is about love, as we try to find commonalities between us all, because honestly at the end of the day we are all flawed and that combined with a love to want everyone happy will lead us to making choices that promote inclusivity and dealing with the stigmas surrounding mental illnesses and health are definitely one way to start.
Let’s make talking about mental health like talking about physical health, let’s make it normal. With a love being moulded and crafted by God I love you and hope you find yourself through lifes storms and that you may be a reflection of love also. Have a great and productive week ahead.

This is beautiful 😭😭 and interesting
