Mental Monday! Forget!

I really appreciate that you keep coming to read these not because my ego, but because it shows you care about your mental health and that warms me, and in honour of Dementia. Don’t Forget to love and care for yourself and through that, care for others too.

Hi, welcome to my blog, mind your head as you enter and please feel free to take your shoes off and get comfortable, as we talk about the state of mind and generally how to be more thoughtful of others in this confused world.

Dementia is our Mental Monday illness today, illness like Malaria or HIV all normal things to have in this life of ours.

Dementia is characterized by;

a syndrome in which there is deterioration in memory, thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday activities.

WHO

Normally we are fine with this because we assume Dementia is a normal part of ageing, truth is, it’s not. If you get Dementia, it’s not normal and we shouldn’t treat it lightly but, it is a part of the world we live in and so the concept behind Dementia shouldn’t make talking about it cringeworthy.

Yes its weird, aren’t we all weird in some way? But honestly, imagine if you lost your memory, you couldn’t remember the girl who broke your heart the first time and turned you “savage” so you won’t have any stories to tell anyone. It would be almost as if you had never experienced life.

And what’s worse is not a lot of people seek the counsel of the aged so who will entertain them? Then on top of that they will sit there with clean minds as Dementia takes every memory.

Because you can’t remember things, you begin to have problems thinking and acting. Basically your behaviour changes, which means you change also. A clean slate meaning like babies, it must be rough going through that and having people act angry at you for things you have no idea about.

That basically means you have problems performing basic daily tasks, that means now you need help. You know how much that must suck. You don’t even understand anything that’s happening but you have someone all over your private business and you can’t remember if you asked them to help or if they just got handsy.

This life thing is really hard and messed up so alot more compassion and empathy for those we share this earth with, would go a long way to making love a reality for those who may never have experienced it but also for bringing some happiness and joy to others this beautiful day.

I hope the more we have these conversations the more we can allow ourselves to be more inclusive not just in speech but in actual actions and life in extension. Remember we don’t know the whole story of those we share the earth with so before we use anger or any quality not soaked in love let’s take a breathe and find a better way to handle the situation.

Love and light leading the way forward to life changing conversations. I hope this week we remember that just as we having things we are going through then others should be going through similar and just as we would like a break, they too would love a break. So give each other breaks❤
