Jesus Reigns!

While Kanye was busy making waves with Jesus is King, our very own Shaps, dropped his much anticipated album titled Jesus Reigns.

Welcome to my blog, today the 27/11 is my birthday and its been a long time since I actually felt like a birthday boy. So it was too weird for me and I’ve decided to dedicate a whole blog to an incredibly skilled musician who just released his album and a dear friend, Shaps.

There is one song on this album I heard you sing, you were so good and you walked around like it wasn’t a big deal or like you didn’t know just how amazing a gift you had. It was so unbelievable I asked you to sing for my sister and my brother in law when they came to visit.

But that was how much I believed in what you sang, every vibration of your chords shock me. He is so good and yet he doesn’t know it, I’d think to myself. But maybe I’m the one who didn’t know it. Because your album has me wondering how I ever thought I had seen you at your best?

Jesus Reigns is 10 songs, and of the 10 I am beside myself with;

1. Yamaka

2. All the Glory

3. Ngumwami

4. Amalumbo

5. Azayanka ft Eddie Black

6. Ubukata ft Eddie Black

7.Lwimbo Lwandi

In hindsight it would have been easier to type the list of songs that didn’t cause me to panic at the disco, and not to say they are not good songs. They just feel really airy like you were going for that commercial song to give your album a boost or why ever people take that route.

And that Eddie Black production was absolutely stunning, the best part of the project for me was Azayanka because Eddie Black did something only he can and you sang to it, like I’ve never heard you sing before.

I laughed to myself throughout aspects of this album as I remembered our some times controversial conversations as I tried to find out more about Shaps and christianity and you tried to find out about me and the wilderness. We should do that again in this new age of life to see how we’ve grown.

Congratulations Shaps, you did the whole thing, I’m proud of the work you’ve put in and it shows, you’re a blessing to be heard.

Personally I feel invested in your music career there is something about your voice paired with the lyrics that only you can string together. Ye! Ye! And so 1 album will not be enough. Ye! Ye!

If you would love to wish me a happy birthday, I’d be more than humbled if you could listen to Jesus Reigns and possibly just comment with your thoughts on the project. Have a blessed new year as, per my calendar and may you find God, peace and love this beautiful day.
