Lecrae dropped his new single titled “Spread the Opps” and it got me thinkingš¤
When we talk Hip-hop why do we never speak on some of these Christian rappers who stand their ground and then some. Lecrae for instance has been a phenom in shifting a whole genre previously demonised in Christian circles. But I guess when you can rap as well as he can then it only makes sense his lyrics would influence even his enemies to change heart.
If you’ve never heard Lecrae you can start with his new single, or his latest trap album titled “Let the Trap say Amen” or even just start from his inception because it doesn’t matter where you want to start from his been a consistent top tier rapper who if we removed the Christian label would easily make the hip-hop trio usurping Drake obviously.
Lecrae also isn’t the only rapper under the Christian banner who can throw down amazing lyrics and still do it for their Christian cause. One such artist happens to be my favourite Morden day poet, Propaganda . Interestingly enough I found pictures of him on stage with Ice Cube, pictures with him and Snoop on stage and all those guys. Not only is he a Christian rapper but he has actual skin in the rap game as an entire genre and YES his pen is extremely sharp.
I’ve always been a fan, like I said favourite Morden day favourite poet and everything but when he released his “Crooked” album same day as Jay-z 4:44 I knew the wisest thing would be to shell 4:44 as the net disintegrates into obvious debate. I don’t make a lot of smart decisions in the world but my oh my did I hit money with this choice.
Everything about that album spoke to me, and lyrically I stand by the fact that he had an overall better album that Jigga. Yet it was a Christian album. I don’t mean like throw Jesus at the end of the rap and label it gospel, no. At some point I branded them as conscious rappers but it never felt accurate as every song was a reminder that they were being little Christ’s.
Perhaps it’s the fact that they openly state to being little Christ’s that they lose a whole entire demographic of listeners. Whatever the case brilliance must be appreciated and alot of rappers in the Christian hip-hop scene deliver classic tapes.

Update
Incase you find yourself confused as a friend pointed out to me, I mean even as Christian or Secular rappers. The core is rap and strip it to that and for sure these rappers who be rapping the about the most Holiest of Names definitely been real impressive with their skills.š¼
