In a world constantly filled with the need to be hasty, how often do we sit back and accommodate the ones we love?
Today is another beautiful Friday, with rains finally doing their thing and alot of joy and happiness as my birthday draws near.
Another weekend upon us and the majority of my thoughts are spent on making time for those that we love and making sure they know they are loved.
Also if you’re a chain store, Christmas decorations have already gone up reminding us that family time truly is upon us and everything that we do. So how do you create time for those you love?
I struggled with this idea for a long while simply because, if I don’t spend my time regularly with someone then it felt like I must not really like you enough to want that. But then I had to be honest with myself, I’m extremely busy and I dont even have time for myself as much as I would like.
Recognising that we are all essentially busy, how would one adequately make time for those we love? Do we have to spend the whole day together for it to be love? In a world where time is money, could we really afford to?
I think love is more like spending 5 uninterrupted minutes with those we love, catching up and enjoying each others presence. TV off, phones turned upside down, complete attention being given to the ones we love.
Even as I write this the one I love is watching Sherlock Holmes waiting for me to be done with sharing my thoughts on love. Its really a double edged sword but when you love someone, whether a phone call or text but we show love completely, without shame and completely vulnerable to our truths.
May we love, uninterrupted and unashamed paying close attention to nourishing our relationships especially during what is potentially a great weekend. Peace and love to you all.
