Its where you would go for a quick tasty meal, some mild conversation and catching up with the rest of the hood in Nyumba Yanga. I arrived after dark and “Grinding all my life” was playing and right on the cue one guy from across the street where the carpark is began shouting;
“Gucci! Gucci!”

We all tried to make out the shadow shouting names but after the shadow stopped calling we forgot just as we would a fading whirlwind. We laughed at the unseizing wonders as I made my order from a variety of options that make the Galley a spot embedded in the hearts of the locals.
A big fat wrap with black pepper, extra sauce and a hint of love and care. “Hustle and Motivate” came over the speakers as these two gentlemen got comfortable, no juice just thugging out their wraps in front of the food truck. Making the Galley their dinner option for the night, even asking our brilliant chefs to turn the music up, seems we all felt the ghost of Nipsey that night.
Double up took to the speakers as this rasta man stood up to grab his recently finished order. He stood up headphones blaring his dance hall music and a wrap around the dreads his kept for 8 years.

If you know me, bet my impulsive urge got the better of me and I asked to make sure what I thought was under his head wrap truly was, he simply told me dreads take alot, smiled his contentment at my interest in only his hair grabbed his wrap and made a way for what I gather is his home.
My wrap was done, a big fatty with love and even a mild hint of local neighbourhood gossip was splurged on my unsuspecting person. With my appreciation for another magnificiently wrap made, came a recommendation to listen to NF’s new album. Maybe I will, but one thing is for sure, The Galley really is the plug form of establishment that I can be happy with, Food and Service are worth the walk, and now its where I might come to for my local dose of ‘Neighbour Watch’.
Maybe I forgot about Nipsey abit too fast as these things tend to happen, but the words and passion of his music will definetly live forever, through the rememberance of one talented artist, who did it different.
