Seth Godin is an educator of sorts I stumbled upon on YouTube. He talks about how he has blogged once a day everyday for a few years now. Basically encouraged this blogpost into existence.
His reasoning, “it’s good for you” even if no one reads your blogpost it will help you sort out your thoughts. And I need my thoughts sorted out(more on this later).
But I can’t lie, for the longest time I have been drawn to this medium of writing and with it, blogging. This happens to be my second try at blogging and at best I don’t know what I want to say. I know I want to say something, I have all these thoughts rumbling daily. Because of all I think I have to say, Seth Godin’s advice to blog daily feels like a revelation.
It’s not a new concept, but for some reason hearing him talk opened my mind to the possibilities. Possibilities I had somehow restricted myself from or maybe I just hadn’t levelled up yet.
If you happen through my more than 200 blog posts you’ll find a pattern emerge. The pattern is of a child, with way too many toys and no direction. Ideas in this blog, turn into stornext then articles and so on leading me to the next blog. This is also a good moment to apologise for not keeping up with Ku Pazula Lizazi these past two Fridays(more on this later).
2020 has been a scary year with so much death literally shoved down my throat. Also made me realise how precious stringing thoughts and ideas together can be and so this year I’ve had the inclination to find my voice. This is definitely too heavy for my first blog post back, but I promise more on this later.
This finding of my voice has led me to the door of daily blogging. I walked towards this door earlier in this blogs life, I was relentlessly blogging but at the same time I look back now and feel like I basically blogged like a headless chicken. My ideas were everywhere and I really came close to a daily blog post.
Ordinarily I would just start a journal in some book and who knows I might still do that but I’ll definitely still come here and blog everyday. The reason is simple, my mind gets flooded daily with ideas and things that i would love to share but more than that I would love to know what you think.
Speaking up can be scary, writing stuff down and putting them out there is kind of the same as speaking. Especially since this is the internet. I’ll come here everyday at no particular time and bring across something I feel is worth speaking about.
I can’t promise you entertainment or knowledge, but I can promise that I will present my ideas with respect and a willingness to dialogue and understand your point of view and that I will blog everyday. I will blog the only way I know how, I will offer my honest truth and seek to learn as much from you as I hope you will learn from me.
Blogging once every day probably isn’t sustainable, but thankfully with a dash of optimism and a sprinkle of truth we will get through this together. One blog post at a time.
Until tomorrow, spread love everywhere you go!
