“You went shopping?” Shamende asked Chilala pointing towards her change of wardrobe.

“Couldn’t resist picking up these cute shorts.” Chilala grinned posing with her hands raised high to show off her shorts.

“At least you’re not terrified anymore, does that mean we are alone?” Shamende asked focusing his attention on the mansion in the distance.

“Let’s find out” Nawa said holding out his hand for Chilala’s as they all looked towards the mansion. Nawa and Chilala started to walk in the direction of the mansion

“We are just going to walk up to it?” Shamende asked throwing his hands in frustration.

“No other option, if there are people in there then it’s only a matter of time, it also has the best vantage of this entire estate.” Nawa said still walking towards the mansion.

Nawa and Chilala stepped on to the driveway leading to the mansion with Shamende following cautiously behind. The mansion resembled a colossal three story house in all the horror movies Nawa had seen growing up fit for a family of 50 with enough cars littered in driveway.

Shamende caustously caught up with Nawa and Chilala who were waiting for him in the driveway.

“We alone?” Shamende asked when he finally joined their side.

“Seems that way.” Chilala said not bothering to look round for further evidence.

“Hope you can drive” Nawa said ogling a bright red Mercedes AMG

“Yeah, not that car” Shamende said walking towards a black tinted pajero.

“Its a fast car, runaways need to be able to run away” Nawa argued hoping to sway Shamende’s mind.

“Its also very expensive, whoever owns this place will surely miss it.” Shamende said opening the passenger door to the pajero.

“This car is open!” Shamende yelled out his surprise

“And there are keys in the passenger seat. Try your doors” Shamende continued prompting Nawa and Chilala to open the car doors they were closest too.

“Same here” They yelled out their surprise in unison.

“Strange, place. Let’s go before the owners get back.” Shamende replied walking to the drivers seat and slamming the door behind him.

Nawa and Chilala ran to the car with Chilala sitting in the front passenger seat next to Shamende and Nawa taking a sit in the back.

“Besides driving how else can you be of use?” Nawa said as Shamende put the keys in the ignition roaring the engine to life.

“What do you mean?” Shamende asked turning to look at Nawa.

“You said you could be of use to us. How?” Chilala added turning to face Shamende, understanding what Nawa was thinking of.

“I’ll take you wherever you’re going. Where are you going anyway?” Shamende asked putting the car in drive and navigating around the other vehicles before getting to the driveway leading out of the estate.

“We don’t actually speaking know” Chilala replied turning to face away from Shamende’s surprised face.

“What is going on?” Shamende said bringing the car to a stop in front of the big electric gate that slid them into their current misfortune.

“Why have we stopped?” Chilala asked turning to find themselves in front of the gate.

“We’ll open the gate” Chilala continued about to open her car door when Shamende clicked his handle automatically locking all the doors.

“We can’t just open the gates” Shamende said with panic painted over his face.

“You want to remain here?” Chilala asked in shock freezing Shamende in fear as the options weighed on him.

“You’re worried about the cops who nabbed you?” Chilala asked stretching her hand clasping Shamende’s hand offering her reassurance.

“If I’m found I could possibly be killed. I should have been killed if not for you.” Shamende said with his hands covering the tears rolling down his cheeks.

“Why are you crying?” Chilala asked rubbing Shamende’s back

“Because my life is in danger, yours too if we keep going together” Shamende replied still covering his face.

“And the life of those close to me” Shamende continued filling the silence with his heavy breathing. The trio sat in silence contemplating what awaits them on the other side of the gate.

“It doesn’t look it but I am always scared. I wouldn’t have run away if I didn’t have Chilala with me. So we can be friends, and help you figure it out.” Nawa said holding Shamende’s gaze intensely.

“But us staying here isn’t safe, trust us” Nawa continued as he touched the door handle waiting for Shamende to make us his mind. The doors clicked open with Nawa patting Shamende’s back and stepping out.

“How can I, I don’t know you” Shamende replied.

“Well we are all lost, looking for some sort of answers. We can be lost together” Chilala replied rubbing Shamende’s hand reassuringly.
Nawa couldn’t find the remote but to his surprise the gate slide open revealing an open dust road leading away from the hell they’d lived the past few days. Shamende wiped his eyes as Nawa shuffled himself back into his sit slamming the door shut.

“If you go with us the whole way you might find out why I’m morphing” Nawa smiled sitting in the middle of the car putting one hand on Chilala’s shoulder and another on Shamende’s shoulder with a gleeful expression.

“Onward to adventure!” Nawa grinned excitedly shaking the two sitting in front. Shamende dropped the hand brake, put the car in drive and slowly watched the car roll out of the gate looking at the road to the left and the road directly ahead deciding to go left away from the main drive way.

The trio drove in silence with Shamende consulting his driving app to get them out of the unmarked gravel road. The car meandered about in the bushes until they found themselves starring at a tarred road with a rusted sign post reading Monze.

“Are you in any rush?” Shamende asked stirring at the sign post intently. Chilala peered over her shoulder at Nawa.

“As long as we follow the sun, I guess not?” Nawa said shrugging his shoulders at Chilala.
