Fridays Are For Love! Content!

My whole life I’ve always heard, “be content” with what you’ve got, I never really understood what it meant. It felt like I was being told not to want anything more than I already had, not to aspire for more. I sometimes still think we use being content wrongly, allow me explain.

Hi and welcome to my blog, the weekend is upon us which means for the most part relaxation, may it be as relaxing as you wish and may all the unscheduled happenings of life be moments filled with spreading of love everywhere you go and with all you find in these streets of life.

Be content usually is told more in terms of when we want something we don’t have, not told be content while you work for it. Simply be content and usually with a slight irritation. Usually that makes us feel greedy or ungrateful because we WANT more than our fair share.

Usually this makes it seem like if I want something but can’t afford it then I must be a greedy no good for nothing. This leaves me in a moral dilemma because I don’t want to be a greedy no good person. Yet contentment has nothing wrong with desire, it’s not meant to be a guilt trip. It’s meant to be a mechanism of understanding.

Understand that today what you desire, you do not have and no one is willing to help you get it if they can. But also that what you desire you will have to work for to expand on the levels of contentment you are to have.

See being content has nothing to do with being happy in a position you’re uncomfortable being in. However, it is about understanding that life is seasonal. So rather than leaving in the past or longing for the future, live in whatever today has to offer.

You made a terrible choice in the past and now you’re suffering the consequences. Be content in the lesson that has brought you on this journey, learn from it so that you may avoid a similar journey. Now you can’t learn while your mind wonders into the past or future. You can’t learn while you beat yourself up for being in the situation you find yourself in.

You can learn if you embrace the season you are in. You don’t have to love the season, you just have to embrace it because it has a lesson specifically for you. Until we learn to create the environment for our success with exactly what we have in this season then we might be creating a loop for us to experience something similar in the future.

Being content is understanding that nothing in life stays the same and that if nothing else teaches us, life will teach us everyday. That’s why we gotta be content with where we are even as we tirelessly work for where we want to be.

Contentment comes with a certain aspect of humility that can be uncomfortable. But there are things and people who walk in and out and they will always want to comment. Ever had someone speak into your situation and you get so angry at them for putting their nose in business that doesn’t concern them?

Yet if we are being honest, we really angry because they hit the nail on the head and we are just so furious, of all people they had to be the one to expose our situation. We get so mad because we think we are stuck in that place for good. We need to be humble because even a little child can speak and share a piece of knowledge that can greatly impact our choices in life.

Being content isn’t even about pretending to have it altogether. It’s about accepting where we are as we use our energy to change that situation day by day. Somedays you’ll decide to take a break and that’s fine, others you’ll over work and that’s fine for each day has it’s own anxieties.

This Friday more than anything else I hope we find time to appreciate the lessons found in these 24 hours of daily life. I hope we find moments to appreciate who we are and what we can achieve for ourselves within the day. Neither dwelling in the past nor dreaming too much of the future.

Be content but don’t lack the ambition to work daily on becoming better. The trick to life isn’t in the future ir the past but in the now and all we can do to better ourselves in this moment of now. I hope you find all that you search for in life as we look to spread love profoundly in all we do.
