I was home dreading the heat when my girlfriend called me saying she had seen a news item quoting the demise of Kobe Bryant. Initially I was stunned wishing it was a terrible internet hoax. Alas the Google search engine wouldn’t allow me to finish my search without predicting with accuracy what I wanted to check for.
Hi and welcome to my blog, death by any stretch is marred by sadness whether we knew the person or not there is something relatable and extremely sad about a life loss. May today be a reminder of the fragility of life and hope that leads us to spread more love until our own last call.
I remember first watching Kobe Bryant and soon thereafter I was hooked and honestly his work ethic got me. His dedication to whatever he did and his lack of fear well into his last game made me a big fan but mostly it was the mentality with which he approached life.
His death is a reminder that truly we are in control of nothing but what we choose to dedicate ourselves to while air still fills our lungs. So this Mental Monday, are we dedicating ourselves wholly to what we want?
Dedication is not without its faults, like ridicule or self doubt or even fear but its about finding a way to rise above the faults. Seeking a way to live life to the fullest of your abilities and beyond. When they call you different or strange, take it as a compliment for your uniqueness and use it as fuel to dedicate yourself.
Set your sights and work to improve who you are especially in the context of what you aspire for. Now none of this is easy, easier said than done, I know but we owe ourselves the courage and strength to rise up and achieve but more than simply achieving we owe it to ourselves to put our best foot forward and go for our dreams.
This determination and dedication isn’t easy that’s why we stand on the shoulders of giants because they can help us grow faster in ways we can not in isolation. But we must be ready to ask for help, to study how those we aspire to be like acted and have surround us only those who wish to aid and propel us to our greatness.
In this life where we only have it once before the mysterious journey labelled death begins, will our candle go out knowing every moment while we had it, we gave it our everything
When you make a choice and say, ‘Come hell or high water, I am going to be this,’ then you should not be surprised when you are that. It should not be something that is intoxicating or out of character because you have seen this moment for so long that … when that moment comes, of course it is here because it has been here the whole time, because it has been [in your mind] the whole time.
