When is justice due?
At what point have you had to ask your own version of our theme question. Which is taken from the bible book of Genesis chapter 34. I wont add the verse because context is important, read it develop your own conclusion.
Their sister had just been raped, if you know the chapter you know the story, and the guy who raped her didn’t even ask for forgiveness. But he offered to pay for her any fee in the world. No matter what was named. The brothers act out and in explaining why they are acting out to their father Jacob. The brothers ask in justification, “Should he treat our sister like a prostitute?”
Basically he is asking, is it fair? What reason do you have that can make sense for such senseless acts? Why shouldn’t we seek revenge? Why can’t I get even? How do we even get back something as pure as innocence back. Shes been raped. I’ve been abused. Back stabbed. Sold out. I’ve done people dirty.
Is any of it fair?
And I don’t know, I am not coming to pretend I know the answer to these grand scheme questions. But when it’s our turn, when its OUR TURN, I’m asking us to choose love! It’s not always our turn, but if when we read this and our turn to act more lovingly towards someone else comes, IAM HOPING! HOPING! We take it. I am hoping we take it and be more loving.
Do it your own way, but just be the love you know. People out here are going through the most. A smile and hug can give someone out here reasons to keep hoping until they have their own. And if you’re in pain, I hope you know you’re not alone.
The story above is about avenging and I honestly understand the brothers, I’m right there killing with them. But Jehovah’s word really does speak about letting go of judgement to him. Our primary principle is love. I wish you all the love in the world
