I’ve been having difficulties writing of late, especially long form anything’s via way of blog. Mostly because this art form serves as sort of catharsis and I don’t know what to get off my chest. Not in a shabby I’ve got nothing happening in life but mostly in a, I’m doing my best to practice what I preach that I don’t know what to say anymore.
Something that I feel I have said in a while and there is nothing, or maybe I’m simply lazy. You be the judge. But something Garyvee talks a lot about more often than not is just doing. Nike has a whole brand campaign on just do it. Which literally means go henceforth in the direction of what sets your soul on fire and do it. Figure it out, but whatever you have to do, just do it.
That’s basically what I feel I’ve been going through and hence my lack of attention here. I’ve been going all in, stepping on my fear and huffing my chest out to provide it more room to bounce around from anxiety. A lot of what I posted here was more to encourage and remind myself than it was intended for anything else. Then people started commenting and sending me messages privately and it no longer became about me alone.
I honestly had no intention of typing this at all but life happened, which for me means my brother brought home this beautiful dog. His gone to calling the beast Mortise, like for the lock, because security you know. Anyway, I was petting this beast for the first time and the thought dawned on me. I want this dog to know me, understand me, have the necessary fear required to be tamed by me. A lot more goes into the dog relationship and the more I thought about it the more I remembered that life isn’t theoretical.
If I want Mortise to know me, I have to make intentional effort to know and love my dog. Which is what Garyvee talks about, and more than that this is what God through the bible is constantly reminding me of. Life is happening, this moment I’m typing this is part of my life. This moment you’re reading is part of your life and your choices.
Whatever you want to become better in, you have to invest in. Whoever you want to love forever, you have to align your life to putting in the consistent effort to love that one forever. Effort always shows, did you know, that human beings are transmitters. Which means its said trust your gut, what they actually mean is your transmitter picks up on things and you need to get in sync with that transmission so you can know how to trust your gut. Which means if you’re with someone and you don’t feel the love, you’re not crazy.
Efforts are simply not being placed in the right column, weather those are your efforts together or not is entirely different conversation but you get to feel it. If you’re paying attention you’ll even feel it change while texting each other.
The grass is not greener or the other side the grass is greener where you water it. If you take care to pay attention, you and only you because you can’t force anyone to what is against their wishes and it’s a real headache to try, you will discover that you will see more of the picture and know who is watering the grass. This is because efforts should be consistent.
If you want to become a better chef, you have to cook often. A better writer? Write. If you want to get into shape, you can’t simply read a book about cardio, you actually have to do cardio. The more you do, the more you invest in you and the more experience points gained.
However if you don’t work anything about yourself, you don’t gain experience points which means you begin to stagnate. You don’t become better at the thing you wish to become better at, you become better at the thing you do. Life will always send challenges we will always have to pick ourselves up and move, bad choices are better than no choices. We can learn from bad moves but we can’t learn from no moves.
I’ve been busy trying to grow a company from my head, I’m passionate about creatives and education. That is where I’ve been investing more of my time and the only writing I’m able to do is to help with social media marketing, sharing our dreams for education at the moment and researching. Also running a writing/marketing service in the daily operations because a business has to make money. It isn’t a business if it isn’t making money.
It’s not an easy road this path I’ve led myself down but it is the path I’ve chosen with a grin on my face. I’m excited for what tomorrow holds and more excited for what I learn today. Mortise (the dog) reminded me that the effort of today is worth more than the promise of tomorrow. I hope you all find a way to do the things that make your soul scream out with beautiful desperation.
Even with all this covid, there are small ways in which you can do what you love, truly isn’t that the only thing we should be going for? Doing things for the truest parts of us, things birthed from love in whatever small way we can. Because the promise of tomorrow none of us can claim but this moment, yeah this moment is what we have and where we shall build our dreams from.
I don’t want to promise that I’m back on the daily at the moment, but I’ll give my blog more thought, I still have ideas I’d love to just talk about and get your 2 cents but it’s all in stages and I can’t wait to be back consistently. Maybe soon, till then drop me a message if you have something on your mind. Have a great valentine’s weekend and remember love your people like it’s the very last time, always.
